A Day in the Life of New Jersey’s Busy Public Libraries (Infographic)

Thank you to everyone who participated in the 2021 New Jersey Library Snapshot Day! Throughout the month of February, 58 libraries participated, submitting 715 posts through social media.

Snapshot Day started in New Jersey libraries in 2007 as a response to the simple question: “What would happen if libraries went away, even for a day?” Your posts helped remind New Jersey residents about all that would be lost.

The pictures and stories you shared also put a human face on library usage that helps legislators, administrators, voters, and other library stakeholders identify with the essential work that New Jersey libraries do every day. While statistics help quantify what is happening in libraries, stories make these numbers personal.

On May 14, MentorNJ hosted a Mega Meetup event, sponsored by LibraryLinkNJ, the New Jersey State Library, and the New Jersey Library Association. Institutional awards were presented to several libraries that did an exceptional job with capturing images that demonstrate the impact libraries play in their communities. Congratulations to the winners!
