Support for Libraries

The New Jersey Library Association (NJLA) strengthens and supports library services for New Jersey residents by leading statewide advocacy efforts, providing continuing education for library workers, and promoting intellectual freedom and inclusive library services.

Annual Appeal Fund

You can support New Jersey libraries by making a one-time donation payable to: NJLA, PO Box 1534, Trenton NJ 08607 and indicate on your check Annual Appeal Fund. Donations to the annual appeal may also be made online through the NJLA website at njla.org/supportus. NJLA is a 501(c)(3) charitable and educational organization. This donation is tax deductible to the extent provided by the law.

    • ensure passage of Public Law 2017, Chapter 260 (also referred to as the Johnson Bill), legislation that permits an increase of municipal public library funding upon voter approval
    • continue advocating for S2668/A3801 for full funding of Per Capita State Aid
    • support Library Network Aid
    • advocate for S2933/A132 to require statewide information literacy instruction in k-12 school curriculum
    • advocate for A1995/S2394 to require certain ratios of school library media specialists to students in public schools
    • provide continuing education opportunities for all library workers through two annual conferences
