Since the whole of what we do could not be contained in one day, the expanded month-long celebration allows us to demonstrate the incredible value of our libraries, our staff and our services.

Instead of focusing on statistics, share your stories with us! Numbers alone cannot convey the impact of what libraries provide and the meaningful work that library staff engage in. As we all know, stories provide context, promote understanding and assign meaning.

We ask you to join us from February 1st through February 29th in shouting out the amazing programs, interactions, and services that make a difference every day, from the big and splashy, to the small but meaningful. Help us share our library stories and photos with taxpayers, administrators, lawmakers, and other stakeholders so that they too can see firsthand the incredible investment that libraries represent.

Here is how you can get involved and celebrate Library Snapshot Month in your library:

  1. Register. Fill out a brief form to let people know you are participating in Snapshot Month and have your library listed on the map of participating locations.
  2. Use the logos below to promote Snapshot Month among your colleagues and collect pictures, quotes and stories from your library visitors (in-person and virtual).
  3. Follow @ilovenjlibraries and #NJLibrariesSnapshot on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram to see infographics on library usage in New Jersey and share with your stakeholders.
  4. Share the pictures, comments, and stories throughout the month of February on social media using the hashtag #NJLibrariesSnapshot. (By using this hashtag, you give NJLA and NJSL permission to use these pictures, comments, and stories in statewide library advocacy efforts.)
