Halloween Costume Swap Encourages Going Green

Is your attic filled with costumes your children wore once then grew out of? Metuchen Public Library can help you with that. The library is hosting their first Costume Swap, an event that they hope will save patrons some money- and make their community conscious of other unusual ways they can recycle.

“How many costumes can you possibly have at home?  Sometimes they are reused but sometimes they lay forgotten,” says Moira Whittington, the librarian organizing this event. “In a conscious effort to promote going green, we decided this would be a wonderful idea to get a ‘new’ costume as well as not creating more waste and a great way to save money for families.”

To participate, bring a gently used costume to the Metuchen Public Library (located at 480 Middlesex Avenue) by October 12th. When you drop off a costume, you will receive a ticket to come back to the swap on October 13th from 2-4 pm. Costumes will be organized by size.

This event is open to the public. Please contact the Moira Whittington at the Metuchen Public Library with any questions by phone (732-632-8526) or email (Mwhittington@Lmxac.org).
