Selected Shorts radio program comes to Glen Ridge Library

On May 16th, the Glen Ridge Public Library is hosting Selected Shorts, a road show version of the popular public radio program of the same name. This program, produced by Symphony Space in New York, is being brought back to the library by popular demand. The goal of Selected Shorts is to take original stories and have them performed- either on screen or on stage. Events are often a result of collaboration with a literary publication, museum, library, or other organization. Selected Shorts broadcasts across the country, and the podcast is downloaded from iTunes over 100,000 times every week.

The event in Glen Ridge on May 16th will feature Robert Sean Leonard as actor and host, as well as actors Kathleen Chalfant and Michael Cerveris. The theme of the program will be “Entanglements,” which focus on intertwined lives. Librarian Jennifer Breuer says, “Selected Shorts is a unique night of literature in performance- what could be a better program for a library?”

The event will be held on Thursday, May 16th at 7:30 pm at the Women’s Club of Glen Ridge (219 Ridgewood Avenue), just down the street from the library. The program is open to the public, and tickets can be purchased here: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/selected-shorts-tickets-59022646324

The program is sponsored in part by the Glen Ridge Film Fund Grant, the Women’s Club of Glen Ridge, and the Friends of the Glen Ridge Library.
